Furthering on with my research on ‘How furniture can define space?’ Gary Chang is one of my favourite ‘compact design’ extraordinaires! This video presents one of his projects in Hong Kong, which he has dubbed as ‘Domestic Transformer’. Hong Kong, as well as many other dense urban cities, are heavily populated and lack space. As result, space is more valued and precious. On the contrary, Australia has an abundance of land which is often…wasted or mistreated. These kind of projects really intrigue me. I’ve been brought up to not ‘waste’ things, whether it be food, clothes, money etc etc… I think this kind of up bringing has moulded my way of designing. Space, should be appreciated and not wasted.
